The war came to us on the evening news before a word from our sponsors. It came to us with some assembly required. It came to us in monthly instalments of $19.95. The war came to us uninvited. It came to set a few things straight. It came in our choice of small, medium or large. It came with a note that thanked us for our continued support. It came to us when our defenses were down, when our lights were out, when we were asleep, dreaming of the life we knew before it. It came to everyone and everything eventually. How I wish it had not come to this.
